Local area guide

John German sell and let a wide range of properties in the thriving and perfectly placed village of East Leake and the surrounding villages, into beautiful unspoilt Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire countryside. This guide aims to give you an insight into what it is like to live here.

East Leake

A village well-known for its community spirit, East Leake popularity has soared in recent years with many people choosing to live here. There has been a huge expansion in the village with exciting new homes catering for first-time buyers, couples and families being built. East Leake has several goods schools (primary and secondary), shops and cafes. Near the center of the village is the historic St. Mary’s Church which dates to the 11th Century.

There are several play areas, outdoor sports facilities and allotments and Rushcliffe Golf Club lies just to the north of the village. East Leake is also home to Manor Farm Animal Centre which has become Rushcliffe’s first licensed zoo. The village is surrounded by charming countryside yet also affords easy access to Loughborough, Nottingham and the M1 motorway.

Jeanette Newcombe, Sales Negotiator at the East Leake branch, who has worked for John German for over 10 years and lived in East Leake all of her life is the perfect person to comment. “People want to live in East Leake for the schools because we have a great pre-school, infant schools (Lantern Lane Primary School and Brookside Primary School) and secondary school (East Leake Academy) and also fantastic nursery facilities at Manor Farm and Honey Bee. Plus, the village offers other fantastic facilities, this is why I think the houses sell so quickly. People stay here and either up size or down size, but we also have a lot of people from outside who come to live here and that’s down to the reputation of the village and what we have to offer.

Sutton Bonington

Sutton Bonington is a small village located in Southwest Nottinghamshire, along the valley of the River Soar. This historic village is much sought-after, with a highly regarded village primary school, frequent public transport services and easy access to Loughborough and Nottingham, East Midlands Airport and the M1.

The village has a small number of shops, medieval churches, a post office, village hall and library, plus a doctor’s surgery and two local pubs. It is also home to Nottingham University campus. There is a choice of homes available in Sutton Bonington including modern new builds and character cottages, ideal for growing families and those wishing to retire.
