Meet the people who make it happen
Working from ten local branches, the staff at John German work as one big team. Sharing with each other their skills and local know-how to ensure you, our customers, receive the very best experience.
Property Valuer
What is your experience? I started in estate agency straight out of college at 18. I now have over 25 years of experience working solely in the sector and dealing with all property types and various marketplaces.
The best part of your job? Bit of a stock answer, but nothing beats selling a property, and I love it when that means that our seller gets to secure the home of their dreams. It’s not like selling any other product; it’s full of emotion and hopes for the future.
Top tip for buyer or seller? Make the most of what you have; that doesn’t mean spending a fortune but touching up that bit of paint and clearing out the clutter makes all the difference. Remember, best foot forward you wouldn’t go on a date without brushing your hair!
What would be your dream home? Somewhere out in the countryside with views for miles!
Tenancy Manager
How long have you been at John German? Since 2019.
Favourite part of your job? I absolutely love lettings and the industry. I enjoy the job as a whole. I love the problem solving and the satisfaction when a maintenance job is complete, and both landlord and tenant are satisfied. I also love handing keys hand over to a tenant. Watching them get excited about moving into their new home is very rewarding. It is also satisfying being part of a team, not only as work colleagues but also as my working family; they make the bad days bearable.
What would be your dream home? For me, it would be a small cottage in the middle of nowhere with my two children. A place we can swing away on a swingy wooden chair, listen to the birds sing with the sun on our faces and put our worries behind us. However, home to me is where ever the heart is.
Accompanied Viewing Representative
What is your background? My career was within aero engineering, then whilst in retirement I was approached by John German for the role as Accompanied Viewing Representative. It is a role that I thought would last a few months but I’m still here over 12 years on! What I enjoy the most is meeting different people every day and being able to offer advice on the housing market.
Top tip for buyer or seller: For those selling, my advice would be to leave the viewings to the estate agent. Buyers tend to relax more with a third party and this helps prevent any awkwardness between yourself and the buyer. Plus a good agent will have the skills to point out all the plus points of your home and answer any difficult question asked.
What would be your dream home? A nice four bedroom detached house overlooking the Ocean on the Almafi Coast.
Legal Administration Manager
becky.scargill@johngerman.co.uk
Time at John German? I joined John German Estate Agents in 2011 and have worked for both the Lettings and Sales departments.
The best part of your job? It’s a fast-paced job which provides me with a great feeling of accomplishment when I find the perfect tenant for a landlord. Another aspect of the job I enjoy is building great relationships with our landlords and tenants. It feels good when they come back to us time and time again to re-let their properties or when they are looking for a new home.
What would be your dream home? My dream home would be a period property with plenty of old features and open fires, with somewhere to put a very big Christmas tree.
Sales Negotiator
Experience: I recently joined John German, and I am looking forward to progressing my career.
Favourite part of your job? I enjoy my time in and out of the office, particularly meeting people from all walks of life and presenting and conducting viewings.
Top tip for buyer or seller? When talking to John German, we can give you the best advisors when purchasing or selling a home.
What would be your dream home? A modern penthouse in the heart of a city.
Sales Negotiator
What is your experience? I joined John German in 2022 looking to start my Estate Agency journey with a great and experienced agency.
The best part of your job? Telling a buyer their offer was accepted on a property they love. Also, telling sellers how much someone loved their property and that they are wanting to make an offer.
Top tip for buyer or seller? For buyers, make sure you have your finance sorted before you put an offer on a property, this can ensure your offer is put forward to the seller in the best light! For sellers, declutter your home as much as possible, and make sure it smells nice!
What would be your dream home? A Georgian home with a modern interior, a big family kitchen and a large well-kept garden.

Favourite part of your job? My lovely team and exhibiting all the excellent properties on the market with quality brochures.
Top tip for buyer or seller? For those selling your house, showcase your kitchen/family area. This will helps potential buyers imagine themselves here, as the kitchen is often the heart of the home.
What would be your dream home? A modern, open-plan home with a jacuzzi tub and ample outdoor space!

The best part of your job? Building up a good relationship with landlords and tenants alike.
Top tip for buyer or seller? First impressions really do count, maximise your kerb appeal and be realistic with the rental price to avoid the property sitting empty.
What would be your dream home? I’ve always really fancied a grand design type house, perhaps by Frank Lloyd or similar.

Consultant – Sales & Lettings
Time at John German? I have been in the profession for over 50 years and was delighted to join John German in December 2018.
Best part of your job? The best part of being an agent is the variety of different people that one meets, all with their own requirements and all adding something to one’s experience.
Clients are normally very loyal and after so much time in the job I find that I am now acting for sons, daughters and grandchildren!
Top tip for buyer or seller: For a seller I think forming a good working partnership with your agent is vital and always make sure that your property is ready for a viewing, try and put yourself in the mindset of a potential buyer. For a buyer I recommend doing your homework before looking at potential purchases, view more than once and always have an eye on selling at some time in the future.
What would be your dream home? Living in Derbyshire is a real privilege and a stone cottage in a rural village with a nice pub and lots of countryside walks would be difficult to beat.
