1. Use mirrors to create the illusion of natural light

One of the simplest home improvements for under £500 is to use mirrors around the house. By hanging mirrors opposite windows, you’ll create the illusion of more natural light than there actually is. In addition, mirrors strategically placed to reflect light into dark corners will instantly make a room feel brighter and more spacious.

2. Add privacy to your garden

Sprucing up the garden can go a long way and there’s no need for a large budget to achieve this. Simply clear litter, mow the lawn, remove weeds and cut back any overgrown trees and shrubs.

Whilst an open, clutter-free outside space is appealing, privacy is also essential. Add privacy to your garden by growing trees or assembling a pergola. As well as creating privacy, this is a great way to separate areas in the garden for different uses. Also consider putting up a fence or wall around the boundary, anything below 2 metres will not require planning permission.
