At John German, we’re proud to support the communities in which our offices are based, and this weekend gave us another wonderful opportunity to do just that as sponsors of the Barton Teddy Festival.
Taking place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, the annual festival brought Barton-under-Needwood to life with its wonderfully unusual combination of teddy bear rides, scarecrows, community stalls, food, entertainment and activities for all ages.
There’s something particularly special about the Barton Teddy Festival because it feels like a true village event.
The centrepiece may be the famous teddy bear rides – yes, rides specifically for teddies! – but there is much more to discover around the village. The festival includes a scarecrow competition, community stalls, local groups, food and drink, teddy-themed activities and events around the church and marina.
There is an enormous amount of work behind the scenes to make it happen. The festival relies on more than 100 volunteers each year, with people giving their time to help with everything from the rides and passport office to stalls and other activities.
This year, funds were being raised for The Young Ones, Burton-on-Trent, a charity which provides emergency and gift boxes for disadvantaged local children, helping to give them dignity and support during times of crisis or isolation.
As a business with branches across Staffordshire, Derbyshire and the surrounding areas, being part of our local communities is something that matters to us at John German.
We’re always pleased to support local events, charities, clubs and organisations where we can.
The Barton Teddy Festival is a brilliant example of what can happen when a community comes together.
