After straws were drawn in the office, Iain Bennett, Sales Negotiator and Stephen Whinyates, Sales Progressor bravely donned our chosen outfits. Iain has just become a new dad to a beautiful baby boy Louie, so we thought it rather apt he was a big cuddley Gromit. To finish off our duo Stephen joined him as Wallace!
The competition was tense and one solicitors firm had turned out all their staff as Dwarfs with a non-plussed Snow White. Our speedy duo clutched frying pans in hand and as the starting whistle went, they tossed their pancakes as the rules stated, and ran down Bore Street. They ran to the finish at the feet of the Lichfield dignitary including the Town Crier and came 1st & 2nd, Gromit taking 1st place in the heat.
Gromit (Iain) waited patiently for the final, the air was thick was competitive anxiety, the local solicitors had a few dwarfs in the final, and a local dentist dressed as a whoopee cushion so the pressure was on.
The race began, unfortunately Dopey the Dwarf cheated and set off just before he should have done and they all raced down the street. The whoopee cushion from Bore Street Dental Practice stormed through to the finish and even though John German put up a good race, we finished in 3rd place. But all was not lost we had won the hearts of the crowds collecting money for St Giles Hospice along the way, and had a lot of fun too, which in the end is what it is all about or is it?
Bring on next year Keeleys & Bore Street Dental Practice, we want to win the famous Frying Pan Trophy!!
Thank you to everyone who came out to support the race and donated to St Giles Hospice.
"I would highly recommend John German Lichfield who dealt with my simultaneous sale and purchase very efficiently. The team are very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They held my hand all the way through what was a very stressful time and reassured me when needed. The whole process from putting house up for sale to actually moving in to dream home was less than 3 months in total. Cannot rate highly enough!"
