John German Estate Agents were once again proud to sponsor the annual Newborough Well Dressing
What is well dressing?
Well dressing is a tradition practised in some parts of rural England which wells, springs and other water sources are decorated with designs made from flower petals. The practise is most closely associated with the Peak District of Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
A joyous day for all the family
As a long established estate agent in the region, John German were delighted to sponsor the Newborough Well Dressing 2018. Newborough, a beautiful rural village in East Staffordshire, is the perfect place to hold such a wonderful event.
The day was jam packed with things to do and see, commencing with the crowning of the May Queen and the procession around the wells, followed by prize giving for the school competition. Then it kicked off with professional entertainers, as well as children dancing around the maypole and also singing, All Stars Performers from Burton and students from John Taylor High School doing a turn.
There was a fire engine and police car, hog roast, lots of stalls and a marquee with Smidgy, a balloon artist and magician who kept the children entertained. Both adults and children were encouraged to have a go at 'petaling', which is how the dressings are made.
Helen Sherwood, organiser for the Newborough Well Dressing comments: "Once again, thanks so very much John German for taking part in our special day by sponsoring us. All went extremely well and of course, the weather was the icing on the cake!"
"Thank you for help in my purchase of Willersley Gardens! And thank you for putting me in touch with Richard for the mortgage. It's all very much appreciated!"
