With 5 marathons under his belt in as many years, Energy Assessor Gareth Clarke from Talk Green is going for number 6 at the London Marathon on 23rd April. Having raised £1000's of pounds for a range of fantastic causes, he is now aiming to do the same for The Children's Society.
London Marathon 2017
Gareth, along with his team at Talk Green works closely with John German Estate Agents to provide our clients with EPC's for their properties. We’ve worked together for many years, and knowing Gareth as we do, we’re not surprised by his dedication to complete not one but six marathons! Supporting him all the way, we find out more from the man himself;
“After 5 years of trying, I eventually managed to get myself into our cherished and beloved London Marathon and all I can say is "About time!" My shins have had more than enough!! I moan a lot about how much I constantly suffer with my shins so I’m over the moon to announce that the London Marathon will be MY LAST! .........Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam, Berlin and Valencia were all truly amazing marathons but I honestly can’t wait to do London!”
Gareth says his biggest motivation for taking part in a marathon, is the fundraising. “Over the previous 4/5 years I’ve raised money for a wide variety of charities such as Macmillan, When You Wish Upon a Star, Get Kids Going and Cancer Research. This time around I have decided to raise money for The Children’s Society.”
The Children’s Society
The Children’s Society is a national charity that runs local services, helping children and young people when they are at their most vulnerable, and have nowhere left to turn. They campaign for changes to laws affecting children and young people, to stop the mistakes of the past being repeated in the future. Find out more about the Children's Society.
Help give Gareth an extra boost!
“I would be honoured and extremely appreciative to those kind enough to offer any form of donation. When I say it helps I honestly mean it! Throughout all of the marathons I’ve run, and if you’ve done one yourself, you’ll know far too well that at around 20 miles you start to question everything; the pain, discomfort, aches and burns start to bite.........it’s at this point of EVERY marathon I’ve run that I remind myself of each donation that's been pledged and the boost that gives me for the last 6.2 miles is difficult to put in to words, other than to say every marathon that I’ve started I’ve finished! I honestly couldn’t do it without your support!” Gareth.
When Gareth is not busy with training, he offers some brilliant advice to home owners on how to improve a property’s EPC rating
"We had a fabulous experience with John German. They were easily contacted and they would give us advice when needed."
