Moving home at Christmas can be incredibly stressful for many reasons; but one of the main stresses can be how chaotic everything is right at the time of year you want to relax at home with family and friends. If you know someone that’s braving a house move here are some great gift ideas to provide some yuletide cheer!
An inviting coffee (or tea) pot
There’s not many people that can’t be calmed down or cheered up by a good cuppa. When the home movers have probably still got these items unlabelled and hidden amongst piles of boxes it will mean you can enjoy a catch up over a nice hot drink straight away!
A friendly welcome mat
It’s one of the first things people will see when they come for a visit so having a friendly and inviting doormat is a nice, simple way to bring a bit of personality and style to their new home.
A filled spice rack
Not an essential item to be un-packed straight away so having a ready filled spice rack gives them the opportunity to whisk up and tasty meal without having to search for food items; it also gives them no excuse to be ordering takeaways every night – win – win.
A fresh herb-garden
Like with the spices, having some fresh herbs to hand will spruce up any meal needing to be thrown together during those first few days when the cupboards are not yet loaded. It also brings a bit of freshness and colour to the kitchen window sill.
Gardening must haves
If your friends/family have moved into a property with a garden why not buy them a few essential garden tools so they can hit the garden as soon as the weather allows.
A lovely bunch of flowers – don’t forget the vase!
It might be the obvious choice but a pretty bunch of flowers can brighten up an empty room when you want to be surrounded by some home comforts. Why not take a vase along too…just in case!
An essentials DIY kit
Having the essential spanner, hammer and nails could be a god-send when they’ve got bits of furniture to be reassembled and pictures to be put up. We’re sure they would appreciate some help from you too to ensure they are ready to celebrate Christmas in a homely environment.
A scented candle selection
Give the new homeowners a festive scent to get rid of any un-wanted smells and bring a freshness to their new home.
Fresh home baked bread
It’s time to get your pinny on and whip up a festive loaf or two. It’s thoughtful and personal – you can’t beat the smell of freshly baked bread.
A basket of food goodies
Your friends or family may not have had time to get out for some shopping so you could be super organised and give them a hamper of everyday essentials to get them started.
Alternatively, you could pack them up a basket of goodies; chocolates, cake, mulled wine and Christmas crackers.
So there you have it – gift ideas for that someone special who’s braving a house move during the festive period.
