Thousands donated to St Giles Hospice near Lichfield
To celebrate John Germans 175th anniversary we decided to undertake a huge fundraising initiative for our two chosen local charities; St Giles Hospice near Lichfield and Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People in Loughborough.
How did we raise the money?
Staff from all 10 offices rallied together to take part in numerous activities including; ‘The Blokes Bake Off’ which raised just under £850.
‘Donington Track Experience Evening’ which provided our guests with a thrilling ride in a Caterham car driven by two members of staff Paul Barnes and Nick Pollitt which raised over £3000!
We then moved onto a 'Sponsored Cycle Relay' which took staff and volunteers on a designated route between our ten offices over the course of two days covering an impressive 143 miles! This event raised a further £2000 and on top of this we had donations from lots of generous clients, staff and local businesses.
The whole teams efforts culminated in a grand total of £7,700 of which 50% has been donated to St Giles Hospice.
The money St Giles Hospice has received from John German will go towards its high-quality caring services for people living with cancer and other serious illnesses. The registered charity relies on donations and fundraising from the local community to keep going, with only around a third of its running costs funded by the Government.
“St Giles have been great to work with – they’ve provided t-shirts, balloons, collection buckets and flags to put up outside the offices. They’ve been very appreciative of the work we’ve done for them and we’re in the process of arranging to hand over the cheque.
“It’s wonderful to get involved with the local community as our staff are very knowledgeable of their regions and interact a lot with local people and businesses, so it’s lovely to give something back. It’s been a very rewarding year.” Elaine Chamberlain, Practice Manager
Aaron Coleman, Community and Corporate Fundraiser for St Giles Hospice, says: “We can’t express how truly grateful we are to have been chosen by John German Estate Agents as one of their Charities of the Year for 2015.
“We really rely on the support of local communities and businesses, and the kindness of people like those at John German enable us to continue delivering our services free of charge to those in need.
“The entire team has done a fantastic job of raising an amazing amount of money and we’re so thankful for their generous donation.”
